How Has the Economy Affected Sugars?

image

We’ve all been affected by the economic downturn in some way. It’s not surprising that the importance of friendship and reciprocity has become a greater priority for many of us.

Sugars make the most of what they have, and whether you see your glass as half empty or half full, you’re in the right place if you’re looking for some honesty in the mist of all this ‘chaos’.

“it was a lot easier to find a good SD before the economy went bust :O(” CupidNYC

How has the economic downturn affected you?

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?

    Yes, definitely more.

I know, I know…. I’m sending “early” valentine’s day greetings, so as to avoid being lost in the deluge tomorrow… 😉

  12. Hgirl291128 says:

Thanks Villa! Not actually V-day quite yet but I’ll take it!

I’m making Valentines for all my friends right now. No girl should be empty handed on Valentines Day. No boy either for that matter!

  13. VillaCypris *276489* says:

And to everyone…. happy (early) valentine’s day …..:)

  14. VillaCypris *276489* says:

Hi Hgirl ~~~ happy valentine’s day to you ~~~ :)

  15. Hgirl291128 says:

Absolutely, Villa is right. You sound compassionate almost to a fault.

  16. VillaCypris *276489* says:

That’s your “humanity”, SincereSD… an admirable trait to be sure.

  17. SincereSD says:

    Sam

Thanks for offering to help. I know what I need to do … it’s now just down to execution (bad choice of wording here). Strange how I can negotiate multi-million dollar deals and do battle with a bank of lawyers but put a tearied-eyed female in front of me and I lose my conviction.

HenriLouis – Thanks for the support and welcome to the blog family.

  18. Hgirl291128 says:

D’accord Henri, I will remain eternally optimistic :)

  19. SweetEuropean*264271 says:

Mish – Thank you! How have you been? Haven’t seen you here for a while!

  20. HenriLouis says:

    Come on Hgirl,
You believe in Santa do you ?!
    He brings presents every year.
Does Santa know your mailing address ?
No, he throws them through the chimney.
So why couldn’t a Valentine do the same ?
In literature this is called “the willing suspension of disbelief”
    So keep up the faith.
    Be an optimist.
You know, you can actually create your own miracle.

    Hello Sugar Bloggers,

Am new to the site and have enjoyed reading this post so thought I’d respond.
I’ve only been on here since (well today)!! But hoping that I find someone really awesome to be my SD.

How has the economic downturn effected you?

I think that I’m much more mindful of my budget. I used to not pay so much attention to the teas I’d buy at cafes and nights out with my mates, but since then don’t stretch the wallet too much.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?

I’d have to be honest and say of course. It’d be lovely to have that extra dosh around to eat somewhere nicer than normal, treat a friend to the theatre or cinema, and just be able to have a bit more fun again and get a great friend and companion out of the deal.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?

    Well, can’t say I do!!!!

Cheers and have a great day bloggers

    x Natty

Beautiful stories printed on beautiful paper.
I will select a few photos to illustrate them and send it to you as well.
    Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.
No doubt you will be showered by gifts and cards from all those admirers.
Perhaps there is a pot SB among them, too shy to come out of the closet.
    Exciting prospects !
    Happy smiles to you all.

    Good morning all!

The comments you were making last night cracked me up!

bostonterrier, good for you for doing your research. I am starting my medical school research at the moment and it is a daunting process to day the least. I really do think we should meet up sometime!

    Sweeteuro- TGIF is right!

Suthrn- thanks for being our stalwart SD. And OC, thanks for sharing the love with those less fortunate.

And yes, Henri, let’s go shopping ensemble! It would be quite fun with you and your prose at my side. I am looking forward to my delivery of short stories, it will be the first present I have gotten in a long while :)

  28. MishBocaRatonGrl*252314 says:

The Economy hasn’t effected me that much, because I turned 18 when the economy fell, so it’s all I’ve ever known, which is probably good. Because I know how to ruff it.

And as far as my arrangement, he’s… not in America so, it’s not horrible for him. He did lose a bit, but he’s not hurting.

  29. bostonTerrier says:

    Sam –

thanks for your comment. I have done my research, talked with financial advisers at my schools and the advisers at schools i am interested in. for instance harvard financial aid advisers are adamant about not having their applicants being concerned – this is emphasized in all of the talks with prospective students. no one is more concerned about this than myself so you can trust and believe i have done more than enough research. luckily i have an excellent GPA, great lsat for a urm and i am positive i’ll have a scholarship to match.

unless you actually talk to them yourself, it isn’t smart just to go based upon the shrinking endowments you hear about in the news.

  35. Nineteen Asian says:

hehehe yep! it’s friday the 13th!!!

I was very curious…when I send a message to a SD…do they receive an email of notification such as “you have one new message from a sugar baby” how do they know if they’ve received a new message?

one guy who’s read my message hasnt replied… :(

  36. SuthrnExec says:

Good morning everyone – I am traveling until mid afternoon so I will check back in then – wouldn’t want the % of SDs on the blog to drop any lower! Have a great day – it’s FRIDAY!!

    Good morning ,

It is a good day for me, no class *sigh of relief* I do have a test on tuesday, I have to study a bit over the weekend. Plus some homework, but for all my other classes I’m caught up until the 17th. I’m a bit sick still, hopefully I’ll get better soon. No plans for Vday, probably just picking up the dress for my sisters wedding.

    Hello Summer,
Lucky you that you have met two SDs and it worked.
This inspires us all to keep on looking.
And that you maintain friendship after it is over is so satisfying !
Yes it is true, money can’t buy it.
Let me offer you this quotation that sums it up.

AND IN THE SWEETNESS OF FRIENDSHIP LET THERE BE LAUGHER,
    AND SHARING OF PLEASURES.
FOR IN THE DEW OF LITTLE THINGS
THE HEART FINDS ITS MORNING AND IS REFRESHED.

Now such words should not be read in silence.
    Stand up and say it.
Listen to yourself speaking these words.
Then take a minute to let it sink in.
Poetry flows from the river of the oral tradition.
It also describes the bond we have on this blog.
    We have all become friends.

  42. Summer says:

Ah, the question of the day! “How has the economic downturn affected the SD/SB dating scene?”

Well, one look at the SA blog (95% females posting here, very few men) will pretty much tell the tale. So will the empty mailboxes. Sad but true.

Nowadays, most of the emails I get are from known fakes or guys just looking for a hooker. Very few REAL SD’s still in the market here lately.

As a longtime member of this site, I’ve met two of my SD’s here, both were long-term mutually rewarding relationships. Sadly, the recent economic stress on Wall St. affected them both to the point where they could no longer afford to be a sugar daddy. But when our romantic relationship ended, at least we can console ourselves with the wonderful friendship we still have and always will have!:)

That’s something money can’t buy!!!! And far more valuable in the long run!:)

  43. HenriLouis says:

    Hgirl,
You wish to go shopping ?
Could I invite you please ?
    Anything is possible in cyberspace.
Now tell me where do you wish to go on a shopping spree ?
I would love to see you in a bright summer dress.
What about a pareu that you can wear going to the beach.
    It always looks graceful.
Then I will present you with a bottle of MoiNoi a kind of suntan lotion with coconut oil as an ingredient and a frangipangi flower in it. It has a wonderful smell and as my friend Jean-Paul once remarked “simplement
devant lámour, pendent lámour, apres lámour; n’importe qoi”.
I simply could not resist sharing this joke.
    Hope you consider my invitation.
    HenriLouis

  44. HenriLouis says:

    SincereSd, I sympathize with you.
Long ago I tried to be kind to someone with a similar problem that you have mentioned. Then I learned that I cannot help such people, because they do not want to be helped. An addict is a clever manipulator and will put up a great facade. The end was that I got burnt in the sense that it left me with such a bad feeling, seeing someone go down the drain.
The person herself should decide, I am going to kick this habit.
The sooner you get out of the entangelment, the better.
In fact, for both of you it will be a win/win situation.
Some you win, some you lose. This is how the world turns.
    HenriLouis

  45. Sam 267369 says:

SincereSD, if you want to talk off the blog about the SB addiction issue please message me (my profile # is above). I went through a similar experience (though a while ago) and would be happy to discuss it with you if you want.

    But I feel for you.

  48. HenriLouis says:

    Good morning everyone,
Here is your blog addict from the other side of the big pond.
Now this is a nice story to wake you up.
You know when teaching children a foreign language there is this cheery word game. On my way to school ………… and then the child fills it in.
Let me parafrase that. On my way to the blog ………. I met a Ukraine scammer.
It is a fact well known that dating scamming seems to be a kind of household industry for women in Russia and in Ukraine. They get in contact with you, promise you heaven on earth, want to visit you, ask for money, stupid-you sends it and then she disappears ………….
This website is of course a great stalking ground for such a predator.
When a young man, I started out as an international claims settler in the insurance industry. You develop a nose for fraud.
Last year I did a bit of research on the subject of dating scammers.
I am happy to tell you that in my mailbox I have now two visitors from the East Block. One photo I immediately recognised. I searched the archive of mug shots and bingo !
Before you know this site will be overrun by them. The internet list contains over 5000 names and aliases. Have a look ate “russianscammers.com”.
They have a simple trick to get your attention on this website.
They send you a letter and at the end invite you to reply on their private
e-mail address. Now there is a bit of software attached to this site, preventing the mentioning of a private e-mail address.
The camouflage is simple and they get through.
Suppose my e-mail address would be wet-towels@yahoo.com
The software searches for the name of the provider and blocks it.
    The camouflage is simply
    wet-towels/a/t/y/a/h/o/o/./c/o/m/
I have not send a reply just yet to both of them.
What should I do ? How can I help the moderator of this website ?
I would gladly like to keep the site clean of scammers.
    Anyway, let me know.
To all the pot SDs on the site, please take note that when you receive letters from girls in Odessa or Kiev it is an avatar.
The girl itself is non existant. The photo could even be of a Russian film actress.
In fact there is a man behind the fraud, an American by the name of All.
Mr. Stupid took the bait that I had set him once and wrote me under his own name.
Now all of you log in to You Tube and then hear Louis Armstrong sing
    What a wonderful World
    Indeed it is !
    HenriLouis

  49. SincereSD says:

I didn’t mean to turn this thread into my own personal soapbox as I was merely asking the questions on this blog. Thanks everybody for your support though.

VillaCypris – Your comments weren’t insensitive; you were merely stating the facts and offering sound advise.

Jenniferbbwsb & sweetredhead – Yes I know I’m supporting her addiction but as well as her mental well being. Maybe I’m being overly dramatic but I fear walking away would result in a catastrophic scenario for her … her ex getting sole custody of their daughter and her losing all motivation to stay somewhat clean.

Hgirl – yes, that’s my plan … remain a platonic friend and provide limited financial support for some transition period provided she is getting professional help. It won’t eliminate the drama but I’ll feel “less” guilty.

Mary – Thanks for the link. She may find them useful.

kittylainy – We were having a great time for several months but I started to piece things together after a while. Her memory loss should have been a dead giveway but I guess “love” or “lust” can be blinding.

Gail – Thanks, your offer sounds very tempting.

  50. Sam 267369 says:

    > I prefer to shop alone. Strange huh. I can cover more ground that way!

OC, I believe you, but I bet you’d like it even better if you covered all that ground with a team of SD clearing the way for you (and hauling the booty, to mix metaphors…)

  51. JustMe **193017** says:

good night OC and Suthern… I’m also headed to sleep. Night all!

  55. OCSugarBaby says:

lol @ Sam. I prefer to shop alone. Strange huh. I can cover more ground that way! :)

  56. OCSugarBaby says:

Sam-Great advice. Universities are raising their tuitions. Scholarships will be impacted as well. We have so many very smart sugars on here, I am hoping they will be okay.

  57. SuthrnExec says:

You hit the nail on the head, Sam!

  58. Sam 267369 says:

    > unbelievable – no wonder men can’t hang with women and

And like that great Alaska event, serious shopping it takes only ONE to pilot and a whole TEAM of husky animals to pull her load of goods! 😉

  59. OCSugarBaby says:

Nite Jenn. Thanks for coming out to play. I’ve missed you!

  60. JustMe **193017** says:

    good night jen

  61. OCSugarBaby says:

Suthrn-Don’t fool these women. You are a great shopper! :)

  62. Sam 267369 says:

    > but after talking to various financial aid people i’ve found out the
    > state of the economy has had little to no impact on schools [that
    > i am interested in] offering financial aid.

I don’t know which schools you are interested in, but the economic downturn will have an impact on a number of schools’ scholarship funds. Most university endowments, and certainly the largest five (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, University of Texas, and Princeton), are hurting quite badly. Many key charitable endowments are also in distress. They invested heavily into safe securities and funds which are not returning money right now (or losing money) and they face “capital calls” (funding their investment obligations) which are forcing them to sell their positions in a down market. Net result: heavy portfolio losses among university and charitable endowments.

Some lucky or wise ones are doing fine (U Penn comes to mind) but there aren’t that many.

General intramural scholarships come from these endowments. Charitable giving is also down. All this, linked with the problem in the student loan market — like real estate loans they were distributed using derivatives — means there is a heavier burden on the remaining cash. Oh, and to add to it all, the current Senate stimulus bill chopped out Obama’s provision for more educational assistance. It may take some time for this to trickle back to budgets, but it will eventually.

So although there may be little to no effect at the moment, be prepared. I would advise students to try obtaining all the scholarships they can while they are available…

  63. Jenniferbbwsb says:

Alright everyone, I think I will call it a night.
    Everyone have Sweet Sugar Dreams.

  64. Jenniferbbwsb says:

  73. Jenniferbbwsb says:

  75. Jenniferbbwsb says:

OC you are so right. Kept coming on today when I took breaks from cleaning my bedroom and between walks!

  76. OCSugarBaby says:

I was laughing at the new topic picture. It reminded me of that Snoop Dogg song “Stacks In My Jeans”….. :)

  77. Jenniferbbwsb says:

Gail, remember that you want to have a good breakfast full of protein to support you during the shopping. Then your energy level will not go down and you can shop until you drop!

  78. OCSugarBaby says:

I was cracking myself up today posting random things because I knew I was in the black hole of posts today. I should have saved them.

Hello Everyone, I had to leave earlier before thanking everyone again for their good wishes and welcomes. Unfortunately with 3 teenagers and only 1 computer getting my time on it can be a little difficult, lol. And I know I will find the perfect SD for myself, someone who will appreciate my “rubenesque” shape. Take care all and I will talk to ya’ll again soon.

A special message to SincereSD, going thru the divorce and bankruptcy was rough and I found a website called dailystrength at yahoo, anyone they have different groups on their ranging from divorce, depression, chronic pain, etc. where you talk to others going thru the same thing you are and sometimes that can be very helpful. Hope things get better for you.

I bet you look 10 times better than Brad Pitt!!! hehehe

  138. bostonTerrier says:

we should! it could be fun.

this would seem so far out of character for me so there is no way anyone would believe me if i told them. i’m glad to hear i’m not the only one like this

  139. Hgirl291128 says:

I know! None of my friends would believe me and my parents would faint. Maybe we should get together sometime in Boston- at least we’d believe one another lol.

I’m glad things are working out so well for you!

  140. bostonTerrier says:

    thanks :)

my friends at school don’t know [i did tell my best friend once and she started to laugh and immediately called me a liar – my friends would never ever believe i’d do this]. my parents wouldn’t believe me either and i’d never tell them anyway.

he is local, i can’t do traveling – school is much more important followed by my own personal life and then my SD. with the exception of fridays, my SD and I meet at his convenience. i’ve never been into big spending, i save the bulk of what my SD gives me aside from buying a new purse once a month, nail appointments, shopping (strictly on sales racks! saving money makes me happy), and the occasional dinner with friends. my friends think nothing of my spending habits – they think i am cheap, which i am to a point.

strange enough, the only extravagant things i’ve received as gifts have come from my semi-boyfriend who is also a college junior.

  141. Mina says:

How has the economic downturn effected you?
    It has not.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
I’ve had a few different sugar daddies over the years, and not because I needed the finances, I just wanted to have fun. My parents support me financially (and are very generous as well) but it’s nice to have extra funds to travel more often, shop more, have a great high rise, etc. The way I see it- SD/SB relationships aren’t about needing, they’re about wanting.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
I have just (as in last week) started an arrangement with a second SD and a (potential) third SD is coming to visit me in about two weeks. :)

  142. Hgirl291128 says:

Ooooh boston terrier- good luck! Can’t wait to hear about your meeting. I have a question for you- do you friends at school know about your SD? What about your parents? How do you explain your extra funds and (if he isn’t local or if you travel with him), your absences?

  143. bostonTerrier says:

How has the economic downturn effected you?
this question was asked in a previous blog topic and my answer was the same then as it is now … it has not. i thought it might impact me when i go to law school but after talking to various financial aid people i’ve found out the state of the economy has had little to no impact on schools [that i am interested in] offering financial aid.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
… no. i was never looking for a SD for financial security or anything like this question kind of implies. it’s easy when you have no bills to pay.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
i still have my wonderful SD and – interestingly – i might add another one. we’ll see how our first meeting goes.

  144. Hgirl291128 says:

Yes I agree with sweetredhead, SincereSD. Perhaps you will be doing her a favor by disengaging yourself and insisting that she seek help. If you are comfortable you could tell her that you will remain in her life (probably best to end the romantic portion of your relationship though) only if she is seeking help. Just a thought.

  145. sweetredhead......269443 says:

Hiya mich and everyone David your a Sugar Baby?

Welcome all new comers to the blog :) Welcome back SincereSD :) I have a question, do you think your supporting your Sb’s addiction as well? Is she using the money to pay her bill or her addiction? Are you enabling her? Sometimes people have to hit rock bottom before they can move up. I understand your caring and concern, your a special person. But sometimes you just have to let them fall.

  146. Hgirl291128 says:

    Hello all :)

  149. David says:

Not much to say about the economy but as for this site I am curious….Does Seeking Arrangement ever screen its Sugar Babies??? I’m a sugar baby, and I think a prett darn good one….I may not be Brad Pitt, but I think I pretty good looking. More import than that I can play my role. I know fine wine, I know what a thread count means for good linen, the difference between “Film Noir” and black and white Talkies!….have the people that run this site looked at the total schmoes looking for Sugar Mamas??? To each his own right? WRONG? See a new potentially amazing woman joins this site she gets 800 emails from Capt. Creeper and the Douche Brigade sees her in box has 800 new messages and never logs in again….I think you people should put together a test to be sure us men are worthy of being called a Sugar Baby…..my two cents worth look forward to some feed back!

  150. VillaCypris*276489* says:

    Thank you, Jennifer.

“Guilt” is a very damning, unhealthy emotion… but once a person A.) minimizes actions which engender guilt, and/or B.) dispatches with feeling guilty entirely, it’s as though an invisible weight has been lifted, and you are free!

I think it’s one of the realities of life that people don’t want to accept, the fact that the only one who can help you/love you/be there for you…. fill in the blank… is YOU. People can offer aid, support, friendship, love, what have you, but ultimately, the impetus to change or love yourself, has to come from within.

    My opinion…

  151. Jenniferbbwsb says:

Villa… you put that very well.

SincereSD… Best of luck, sometimes you have to just break the ties and move on. It will be very hard and you will have feelings of guilt, but it needs to be done.
Tough Love/Friendship is very hard to do.

    Welcome back.

  152. VillaCypris*276489* says:

I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but for people who have good hearts, and genuinely like to help others, it’s hard to come to terms with the reality that it’s not our “job” to “fix” others, especially if they cannot recognise that they need help. It sounds like you desire an equal partner, who understands the relationship and wants no drama or seriousness, as opposed to someone who makes you feel as though you must be her “caretaker”.

  153. VillaCypris says:

    Hello SincereSD

Sorry to hear about the issues with your current SB. Substance abuse/ addiction is one of the most difficult “addictions” to overcome, especially if it’s coupled with other psychological issues. I wish your SB much luck.

As for you, I hope you can achieve a sense of balance in your feelings of friendship and humanity, so that you feel your goodness is not being taken advantage of, or given out of a sense of obligation.

    x

  154. SincereSD says:

Hi everyone, it’s been a while since my last post. To answer the answers above:

How has the economic downturn effected you?
Aside from the devastating blow to my equity portfolio, business is way down and customers are tightening their budgets. The only bright spot is that we are able to hire the top graduates from the universities without the previous bidding wars of the last several years.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
Luckily I can still afford to be a SD but if this keeps up, I may have to be looking for a SM :( My gut feel says that there will be more SB candidates in 2009 and probably less supply of SD.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
I’m leaning towards looking for a new relationship There’s just a little too much drama with my current SB. She’s making some small progress with her addiction issues but the relationship is getting too serious. She has mentioned the “L” word several times in the last few weeks. Breaking up is going to tough as she recently lost her job and I fear she will fall deeper into the black hole of substance abuse. I’m not looking forward to it but will likely have to support her for a few months until she finds a job or another SD. I’m feeling trapped between my feelings of friendship and humanity.

  155. SuthrnExec says:

Yes Henri, I spent time in the Netherlands during May when I was much younger and I still remember the fields of blooming tulips – what an impression it made!

  156. HenriLouis says:

    Hello Suthrn,
Yes, a great adventure, because I am the outdoors type.
I live in the Netherlands along the coast in the bulb field area.
It is flat and the soil is sandy. For ages people have cultivated flower bulbs here to be exported all over the world.
In the month of April and May it is one of the seven world wonders.
Millions of flowers are in bloom and as far as you can see there are beds of different colours. Millions of flowers bloom and the perfume of these is intoxicating.
Imagine you step inside a flowershop. Smells nice isn’t ?
Now press the button of your nose to mega level !
This is what the experience is like. For the rest of the year the area looks monotonous . All the flowerbeds are covered by straw.
But you know in such an area wild life prospers, there is food and shelter and water and rest and quiet.
More to the South of the country near Belgium there are woods, mostly conifers with that different peculiar smell. Any opportunity for me to sit in the woods on a high seat waiting for wild life to appear is a real treat.
    Lucky me !
    HenriLouis

  157. SuthrnExec says:

If I may and if you would indulge me, I would like to edit my response to the last question posed at the top of the blog.

“Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?” While I took this question very literally and answered it specifically, I realized that it sounded quite cold and sterile – which is categorically not the case, as I am sure you all know. I could not be happier – well, actually, I could with one minor tweak in our circumstances – but I enjoy an unbelievable, and probably undeserved, amount of sugar goodness in my life. It is truly incredible.

OK, not back to our regularly scheduled programming… :-)

  158. SuthrnExec says:

Welcome back outta the woods Henri! Had plenty of time and a favorable environment to reflect, eh?

  159. HenriLouis says:

A high five to SweetEuro and Hgirl,
Ladies allow me to take you out when on the Riviera this summer.
To be escorted by such magnificent stars, would be my pleasure.
SweetEuro do go scouting for an intimate restaurant with a nice soupe de poisson avec rouille that would bring me into seventh heaven. After this both of you may elevate me to a double seventh heaven.
Perhaps we could synchronize our agendas in a few months.
In one of the past blogs, I read a remark by the SBs that to have mutiple SDs at the same time would even be grander, then just one.
They all voted for it, nice, nice, nice ……..
Now let us have a look at equality.
You would not mind, would you, if a genteman like me would be entitled to the same privilige. Do I see happy smiles all around ?
Let us toss this thing in the group.
A wicked sense of humour is a joy forever,
    HenriLouis

  160. HenriLouis says:

    Hi my village people,
    Back from the woods.
Sitting on a high seat is great to do some thinking and soul searching.
I see that we have another subject on the blog.
Let me have my say on it first.
No, I have not been hit by this recession. Got burnt the previous bubble, so I was not in shares any more. My investment even increased, ridiculous.
Have I been looking harder for an SB. No not at all since I am a relatively newcomer in the village.
As to the sugar news, you know sitting in a forest letting nature in,
things happen in your mind. Let us say, it would be a miracle. On the other hand a man is entitled to his dreams, is n’t it ? Hope that holds good for an SB as well. Shhhhhhhhh don’t tell it might scare her off.
    HenriLouis

Welcome Mary! Good luck to you…. the person with whom you deserve to be will recognise that “age” and “curviness” are things to be embraced, not criteria to be used to pass you over… x

  179. Mary says:

Thank you all for the welcome and suggestions. As for the economic downturn I’d say that it will affect me because I am older and more “curvy” but I know that someone will recognize that I am a wonderful woman and want to share exciting times with me. I will also admit that security is a big factor for being on here, I devoted 20+ years of my life being a good wife, doing without so my ex and kids could have things, then when my ex got us into bankruptcy and hit me up that he wanted a divorce I realized that I never wanted to be put back into that position again. I’d never had a home before, and when he lost ours I swore one day I would have a home of my own again, to decorate it as I want and to get a dog again, I couldnt bring mine to the apt I had to move into. Take care all…

  180. Hgirl291128 says:

SweetEuro- my family just informed me that we might be returning to Cap D’Ail this summer. We should meet up in Nice or MC!

  181. SweetEuropean*264271 says:

How has the economic downturn effected you?
It’s making it very hard to me to find a new job, people seem alot less keen to employ foreign people here, they’re prioritising French people (same in Monaco, I was told the Monagasque are priority) which is dissapointing because with Nice being a very touristic city for most of the year I was told being biligual would give me a good chance of finding work.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
    Not really.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
    Unfortunatly not, lol.

  182. Atalanta says:

How has the economic downturn affected you?

Anyways, the downturn has affected my family, so things are a bit harder on them, and a bit on me too. Luckily, I’m in college, have most things paid for, and have a nice job with the University, so I’m not living hard.
I know jobs are going to be a beast to attain, so I’m going to school for journalism and law.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?

Not really. I found this site due to a bad break up where I decided to hell with unappreciative guys. lol

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?

Nothing you guys don’t already know!

And everyone who’s new, welcome to the blog! I can’t even keep up nowadays.

  183. Hgirl291128 says:

And Nico- I haven’t said it before so….

    Congratulations on your house!!!!!!!

That is so exciting. I must tell you that owning a home has been something I have always dreamed of. I started saving money at age 10 and when asked I told everyone that I wanted to save it to buy a house. Hahaha obviously I was a strange little girl.

  184. Hgirl291128 says:

Oh NC Gentleman you prove true to your sn. Thanks again for trying! I am sure I will find something to suit my talents and interests.

Maverisk- welcome! Always nice to hear from another younger SB. I’d love to talk more with you- it sounds like we are in a similar position.

Sam- you always make me laugh. I agree that investing in sugar futures is a sound economic decision- especially if they are as bright, funny and cute as many of the “commodities” on this board. (I say commodities as a joke to continue the metaphor not to imply that SBs are something to be traded, obviously).

    :)

  185. NC Gentleman says:

Congrats Maverisk and welcome to the blog!

  186. NC Gentleman says:

Hi all — I was on a business trip yesterday, and it is crazy catching up here this morning. I, like Sam, moved a lot of money in to cash, but more like early 2008, so I am doing fine financially. Also, my company is still doing well, and the company is actually having its best year ever so far. I diversified the company into green energy about 2 years ago, and that is starting to pay off now – it wasn’t necessarily because I was smart but more because I was interested; sometimes it can be good to be lucky rather than smart…. I also feel a little guilty about it because many of my friends are hurting…. I actually made a few phone calls to some of my friends in New England hoping I could find a job lead for Hgirl – that was a very sobering experience – it is awful out there and I guess despite reading the papers, I am fortunate to be somewhat isolated.

Hang in there though… I am starting to see some signs of recovery… commodity prices that we buy have bottomed out; commercial real estate is being bought now by vultures, all things that need to happen to start a recovery…

I hope everyone has a great day, and I am sooo jealous that I am not going to Vegas :)

  187. SuthrnExec says:

Welcome Maverisk and congrats on your good fortune!

  188. maverisk says:

Hi everyone! Long time reader, first time poster. I’m a 20 year old SB looking for a Sugar Daddy in the DC Metro area.

I didn’t want to post until I felt I had something to contribute as a “legit” SB. This morning a potential SD (who I have never met in real life) sent me 500 dollars via paypal – sight unseen! We’ve been trading messages and emails for several weeks, and this morning he sent money.

Then I came to the blog and saw the subject was “sugardaddy stimulus” and I thought “What an appropriate topic for my first post” considering I just received my own little “stimulus” package.

How has the downturn affected you?
Although I’m smart, competent, friendly, well put-together, and have managerial experience, I was out of work for an entire year. It was simply difficult to find a decent job anywhere, and I’m one of those people who’s too proud to work at the 7-11.

Have you thought about finding a sd more since the down-turn?
I’ve thought about it for a long time, but I didn’t seriously begin pursuing a SD until January of 2009.

I’ve already shared my sugar news, but I will say I’ve got another potential SD on the line. I’m afraid he might be too good to be true – he’s extremely wealthy, relatively young (39), with an athletic body and a nice face. Plus, HE’S chasing ME, which is a nice situation to be in.

  189. SweetEuropean*264271 says:

SV misses everyone and wishes she could talk with the new bloggers! :)

  190. SuthrnExec says:

Oops – sorry Nico – little typo with your name there!

  191. SuthrnExec says:

Welcome Mary – we’re all pretty harmless and each one has their own little take on this whole thing so don’t feel like your motivations are abnormal – there is no “norm” or exact way to accomplish this – just go with whatever you’re comfortable with. And as Nice said, don’t feel pressured to compromise on those things that are really important to you. Just be patient and enjoy the process.

  192. Nico says:

Good morning Mary…the board is much busier in the eves but very welcoming regardless of when you sign on :) WELCOME!

As previous individuals have suggested, take a read at some of the previous threads…there’s a plethura of information out there and many topics have been covered. Always feel welcome to ask and share though :)

Just as a quick start, remember to never compromise…be realistic but your boundaries are yours….know your own limits and respect them. If you post your profile # I’m sure you’ll get feedback on your profile (if you like).

Best of luck to you :)

  193. Nico says:

Thank you SE…..I am very proud and the excitement is growing 😀 I am more anxious to feel settled….that will happen soon enough. Going to have a house warming party….you ALL should come *wink*

  194. Mary says:

Hi everyone, I am new to this and would welcome any comments or suggestions. I am older, a divorced mom of 3, who is starting my life all over again. Getting back into the dating scene is very scarey, and when I stumbled onto this website I found that I liked the idea of being with someone who was committed because they wouldnt expect to put strings on me at this time, I can just relax and enjoy the relationship. Also, it isnt so much economic but that the men have more interests to share with me. The weather here is cold, rainy and windy, brrrr I am so ready for warmer weather. Take care all…

  195. Sam 267369 says:

    > How has the economic downturn effected you?

More economic opportunities. I feel a bit guilty about being in a strong cash position in a time of tight credit, but it’s not a bad place to be. My associates laughed when I started to move to cash in 2007!

    > Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby
    > more since the financial meltdown?

My timing was driven by the pre-negotiated end of the arrangement with my prior SB.

    > Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?

Sugar futures have been a good investment in the last three months. Let’s hope that is also true for the Sugar here!

How has the economic downturn effected you?
I’m in a field that has been very hard hit.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
No, I stumbled across this site in August on the recommendation of a friend. The only ancillary effect I’ve noticed is now when I get initial contact, the first question to me is no longer about sex, but about money! :)

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
Maybe, but I’m not saying anything yet.

  202. VillaCypris *276489* says:

  203. Hgirl291128 says:

Also I forgot to say that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a job. *Sigh*

  204. VillaCypris *276489* says:

It’s 29 and cloudy here…. but that’s better than twenty below zero! Spring is on the way…. :)

  205. SuthrnExec says:

Morning Bettie, Jenn, VC, Nico and Hgirl! I hope all are well and the sun is shining where you are. It’s going to be a pretty day here although not as warm as I’d like. This is the first time in a long time that I am getting antsy due to the weather. I much prefer the outdoors so the cold and the wet is pressing all my buttons!

  206. Nico says:

SE ~ Did I forget you? Sorry……*going back to bed*….or looking for coffee

  207. Nico says:

Mornin’ Villa :) and Bettie :) Sorry….just playing catch up here.

  208. Hgirl291128 says:

    Good morning lovely people.

How has the economic downturn effected you?
I think that it will be a lot harder for me to pay for medical school. Also, because the cost of school is not going down (quite the opposite) but the profession is becoming way less lucrative, I am signing myself up for years and years of debt. Oh well, loving what I do will be payment enough.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
No. Hadn’t thought about it at all until now! I think because I’m graduating and will have more time very soon I would like to find someone special to spend it with.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
Lots of potentials of course but I am more happy about my new Sugar family than anything else- love you guys!

Also- amen Bettie- it’s a perfect idea for a college student. Speaking of, I have to run to class but I’ll be back around lunch time to check in!

  209. Nico says:

Morning Kitty…..yes, I agree with SE….your Prince will come 😉

  210. VillaCypris *276489* says:

Hi to Jennifer and Bettie as well :)

  211. VillaCypris *276489* says:

Good morning, SweetRed, Nico, Nineteen, Suthrn and Kitty :)

How has the economic downturn effected you?

Somewhat… my brother and I started a company late 2007, and discovered mid-2008 that our primary investor was engaged in mortgage fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, etc., so after he was indicted by the FBI the capital set aside for our company (unrelated to his criminal ventures) was frozen, and therefore, we were forced to shut down. Finding angel investors or start-up capital in the current environment is next to impossible.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?

No, if anything, I think the financial meltdown has made it more difficult for men who deem themselves “sugar daddies”…. at least the friends I have who are I-bankers or in the financial world, or even ventures and other traditional professionals, are all suffering financially.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?

I’ve only been on here 5-6 weeks, and have yet to meet anyone in person. No news is good news, eh?

  212. BettieGirlDD*273192 says:

Same as Kitty.. I stumbled on the site in November and realized I’d had my eyes open for one for about a year to no avail. I hadn’t really put it all together until I had that “yes, thats it!” moment. I wish I’d have thought of this in college. Stephan should advertize in college newspapers.

  213. Jenniferbbwsb says:

How has the economic downturn effected you? Not by much, the housing market is where I was hit the hardest and that was due to my Mom passing away and losing her income. We were both on the mortgage. Things are all better now. It took a year, but have worked it all out the the mortgage company.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown? No, I just was searching sites and came across the SA site. Thought why not give it a try.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
Not at this time, still searching. I did get a nice email from a pot. SD. wanting to meet me soon. I will keep you all posted.

  214. SuthrnExec says:

kitty, your SD will come I am sure. Hang in there.

How has the economic downturn effected you?
Not really, I have been making just as much, if not more money. I work in the auto industry in Canada, luckily sales has actually been better than predicted. Some of my best clients are domestic dealerships, and they have been affected, but not enough to affect my business (third party)

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
I guess I started looking in November, after the ecnomic downturn really coming to light. But it wasn’t the reason, I stumbled onto this site and the concept by chance. Come to think of it, I would’ve been more inclined to find a SD when it was a bull market, because during that time, I was a starving student! I was just not smart enough to think of the concept.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
Just more of the same news about pots that turn out busting. Don’t you worry, I will let you know if anything exciting happens… IF it happens that is.

  216. SuthrnExec says:

    >How has the economic downturn AFFECTED you?
It has not affected me greatly financially, however, it certainly affects the mindset and raises an acute awareness to all that is going on with the economy.

    >Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown? The meltdown was not the impetus nor is connected in any way to my decision to seek this sort of relationship.

    >Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share? Sorry, there is nothing I wish to share at this time.

  217. Nineteen Asian says:

I was curious…If you send a message to a SD here…how do they know if they’ve received a message? do they receive an email stating they have receive a new message? hmmm…

  218. Nineteen Asian says:

    I’m 19…hehehe
Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown?
    …hehehe
Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share?
    Yes!
I’ve messaged 7 SDs…and only 1 message has been read…and… :( no reply…sigh…are there certain messages that people dont like reading? I sent the message like…I just thought i’d say hi…etc…and ended it with you don’t have to reply if you’re not interested! thank you for reading anyway! :) etc…
    aaah…friday the 13th tomorrow…

  219. Nico says:

    Good morning :)

How has the economic downturn effected you? I’ve been very fortunate to not have felt it directly ~ although I do see my friends and family struggling and it’s difficult.

Have you thought about finding a sugar daddy or sugar baby more since the financial meltdown? No more or less.

Does anyone have any new Sugar news to share? *sigh* Nothing here *yet* Lotsa pots but nothing just yet.

I first came to this site because I got laid off from my job. I am now working again and don’t plan on leaving. This has been a wonderful experience and I am enjoying it very much.

I have met some wonderful people from this site and made some very good friends. I never thought this would be like it has when I joined this site.

I am sure the economy has brought more people here and could have had some leave due to the economy. To fully experience the sugar family, I feel it can’t always be about the money. It’s the connections you make.
